Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative Director Earns Prestigious Credential in Electric Utility Leadership
Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CVEC) is proud to announce that Director Marchelle Brown has recently been awarded the Director Gold Credential by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). This prestigious certification is a testament to Director Brown’s dedication to continuous learning and excellence in leadership within the electric utility industry.
The Director Gold Credential is designed for directors who go above and beyond in their commitment to education, surpassing the requirements of the Credentialed Cooperative Director (CCD) and Board Leadership Certificate (BLC) programs. This achievement not only highlights Director Brown’s stature as part of an elite group of experienced and educated directors but also underscores her ongoing dedication to serving CVEC members with the highest level of fiduciary responsibility.
To earn the Director Gold certificate, a director must first complete the CCD and BLC certifications and then earn an additional three credits from the BLC series of courses. Unlike other certifications, the Director Gold Credential also requires ongoing education, with directors needing to complete three credits of approved coursework or conferences every two years to maintain their status. CVEC is committed to working with our statewide association (IAEC) and national association (NRECA) to encourage all our directors to continuously enhance their knowledge for the benefit of our cooperative members.
In today’s rapidly evolving business environment, electric cooperative directors must stay informed about changes in the utility industry, develop new governance skills, and maintain a deep understanding of cooperative principles and business models. Director Marchelle Brown’s achievement exemplifies her dedication to these ideals and her commitment to the cooperative and its members.
"At CVEC, we believe in the power of education and continuous improvement. Director Brown's achievement of the Director Gold Credential is a clear reflection of her commitment to not only her role but also to the members we serve. Her dedication to advancing her knowledge ensures that our cooperative remains strong and forward-thinking in an ever-changing industry," said Troy Amoss, CEO/General Manager of Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative.
Congratulations to Director Marchelle Brown for this significant accomplishment!
