Reporting a Power Outage
No one likes losing power, but knowing what to do can make a big difference in how quickly it's restored. At Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) we work hard to keep outages rare and brief by trimming trees, performing routine line maintenance and investing in a reliable electric system.
However, if the power does go out, here's how to report it:
How to Report an Outage

🌙 After Hours, Weekends & Holidays

- After hours, your call will be handled by Northeast Power’s dispatch center in Missouri, and a CVEC crew will be dispatched as soon as possible.
If call volumes are high, you may be directed to our automated system to leave a message for dispatchers.
What to Expect During Major Storms
-
High Call Volume: Our team will work extended hours to manage incoming calls, but you may experience a busy signal. Please be patient—we are working as quickly as possible to restore power.
-
Statewide Outage Map: During large-scale outages, we report updates to the Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives (IAEC). Their real-time outage map refreshes every 15 minutes.
