Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc. recognizes the trust you have placed in us and are committed to safeguarding the privacy of our member’s information entrusted to us. Text Messaging and Mobile Information
If you choose to provide your mobile telephone number and opt in to receive text messages from CVEC, we may use your mobile number to send the types of text messages for which you have provided consent. These messages may include account notifications, service-related communications, outage information, reminders, alerts, program information, or other communications described at the time of enrollment.
Your consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing or receiving electric service from CVEC.
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile telephone number or your text messaging opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
Mobile information and text messaging consent may be disclosed or shared only as necessary to provide the requested messaging service, comply with applicable law, protect our rights or members, or support the operation of our communications systems. Service providers that assist us with communications or other business functions are required to protect information provided to them and may use it only for authorized purposes.
Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and service plan. Message frequency will vary depending on the type of communications for which you have enrolled.
You may opt out of text messages at any time by following the instructions provided in the applicable text messaging program terms.
When We May Share Information
We do not share members’ personal information with outside parties except as permitted or required for legitimate business purposes, including when:

The information is provided to help complete a member-initiated transaction or provide a requested service;

CVEC does not share mobile information or text messaging opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
Limiting Employee Access to Information
CVEC limits employee access to member information to employees who have a legitimate business reason for accessing that information.
Our employees are educated about the importance of confidentiality and member privacy. Employees who violate privacy or confidentiality requirements may be subject to appropriate disciplinary measures, up to and including termination.

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, CVEC maintains physical, electronic, and managerial safeguards designed to protect the information entrusted to us.
