Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative Awards Over $13,000 in Grants Through Operation Round Up®
Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) is proud to announce the recipients of its second and third quarter 2024 Operation Round Up® grants. Thanks to the generosity of CVEC members who round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar, these small contributions have collectively made a big difference in our local communities.
The Chariton Valley Electric Operation Round Up® Foundation Board reviewed applications and awarded a total of $13,167 in grants, supporting local organizations with critical projects to enhance community well-being.
Second Quarter Grants
In July, $9,067 was awarded to the following organizations:
- Appanoose County Lord’s Cupboard received $1,500 to purchase a new freezer/refrigerator, allowing the pantry to store and distribute fresh food to families in need.
- Circle of Freedom was granted $4,394 for a storage shed project, improving facilities at their residential recovery home for women overcoming addiction.
- Monroe County Fair Incorporated received $3,173 to install energy-efficient air conditioning units in the Exhibit Hall, ensuring a more comfortable experience for fair attendees.
Third Quarter Grants
In October, an additional $4,100 in grants was awarded to:
- Appanoose County Lord’s Cupboard for a second freezer/refrigerator to expand their capacity to serve growing needs.
- Albia Community Schools received $2,600 to purchase two stackable washer and dryer units for Grant and Lincoln elementary schools, ensuring students have access to clean clothing and personal items.
