Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative Awards Over $13,000 in Grants Through Operation Round Up®

Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) is proud to announce the recipients of its second and third quarter 2024 Operation Round Up® grants. Thanks to the generosity of CVEC members who round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar, these small contributions have collectively made a big difference in our local communities.

The Chariton Valley Electric Operation Round Up® Foundation Board reviewed applications and awarded a total of $13,167 in grants, supporting local organizations with critical projects to enhance community well-being.

Second Quarter Grants

In July, $9,067 was awarded to the following organizations:

  • Appanoose County Lord’s Cupboard received $1,500 to purchase a new freezer/refrigerator, allowing the pantry to store and distribute fresh food to families in need.
  • Circle of Freedom was granted $4,394 for a storage shed project, improving facilities at their residential recovery home for women overcoming addiction.
  • Monroe County Fair Incorporated received $3,173 to install energy-efficient air conditioning units in the Exhibit Hall, ensuring a more comfortable experience for fair attendees.

Third Quarter Grants

In October, an additional $4,100 in grants was awarded to:

  • Appanoose County Lord’s Cupboard for a second freezer/refrigerator to expand their capacity to serve growing needs.
  • Albia Community Schools received $2,600 to purchase two stackable washer and dryer units for Grant and Lincoln elementary schools, ensuring students have access to clean clothing and personal items.

Empowering Our Community

Operation Round Up® exemplifies the cooperative spirit by turning small contributions into meaningful change. CVEC extends heartfelt thanks to its members for making this program possible.

“We are inspired by the impact these grants have on our community,” said Troy Amoss, CVEC CEO/General Manager. “The generosity of our members reflects the power of working together to make a difference.”

CVEC encourages eligible organizations to apply for future Operation Round Up® grants. Applications are accepted quarterly, with the next deadline on December 31, 2024. For more information or to apply, visit www.cvrec.com.
