Calling All Students: Apply Now For the 2025 Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.!
Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) is excited to announce the opening of applications for the 2025 Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. This unique and inspiring program offers high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors the chance to explore our nation’s capital, meet leaders and immerse themselves in U.S. history.
“We believe in the potential of today’s youth and are proud to sponsor this remarkable opportunity,” said Anna See, CVEC Executive Assistant/Communications Coordinator. “The Youth Tour is just one way we invest in the next generation of leaders in rural Iowa, and we can’t wait to send two students on this unforgettable journey.”
Who Can Attend?
Any full-time sophomore, junior or senior attending high school in CVEC’s service territory is eligible to apply. This includes schools in Appanoose, Davis, Lucas, Marion, Monroe, Wapello and Wayne counties. Two students will be selected from the eligible candidates.
What’s in Store?
From June 15-21, the selected students will enjoy an action-packed week, including:
- Touring historic landmarks and exploring the Smithsonian museums
- Meeting with congressional leaders and spending a day on Capitol Hill
- Cruising the Potomac River and making friends from Iowa and across the nation
How to Apply?
Applications are now being accepted and must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on February 28. The application process includes completing an application form and participating in an in-person interview.
