Operation Round Up®: Making a Difference Together
Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative offers members the chance to support their community through our Operation Round Up® program. This initiative is designed to benefit a variety of community, youth, educational, and environmental programs. By participating, you can make a significant impact with just a small monthly contribution.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Unless you opt out, your electric bill will be rounded up to the nearest whole dollar each month, with the extra change going into the Operation Round Up® fund. For example, if your bill is $87.56, you'll be billed $88.00, and the extra $0.44 will be directed to support various local causes. On average, this amounts to about $6.00 per year per member. Although the contributions are modest, when combined, they make a substantial difference.
HOW WILL THE MONEY BE USED?
The funds collected through Operation Round Up® are managed by the CVEC Operation Round Up Foundation, which is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors composed of nine members from our service area. Organizations seeking assistance must submit an application, which is reviewed by the Board. The funds are allocated based on need, ensuring that 100% of your donations go directly to supporting community initiatives. Please note, funds cannot be used for political purposes or to pay electric bills.
WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY BILL TO BE “ROUNDED UP”?
Operation Round Up® started in January 2020. New members who choose to participate will see their bill rounded up and contribute to the Operation Round Up® Foundation starting with their first billing cycle.
