Our members have the opportunity to help others in your community through a program called “Operation Round Up®”. This program is designed to help a variety of worthwhile community, youth, educational and environmental programs. Through Operation Round Up®, each participating CVEC member makes a small monthly contribution. Together, those small amounts will make a big difference!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Unless you choose NOT to participate, your electric bill is “rounded up” each month to the nearest whole dollar amount with the extra change going into a separate Operation Round Up® fund. For example, if your bill is $87.56, you will actually be billed an even $88.00 and the extra $0.44 goes toward helping various goodwill causes in your community. On average, a member will only contribute about $6.00 PER YEAR but with everyone pitching in, all that extra change really adds up. It is an inexpensive and convenient way to give to charitable programs within your community.
HOW WILL THE MONEY BE USED?
The CVEC Operation Round Up Foundation will be governed by a separate Board of Directors made up of nine (9) volunteers within our service area and our membership. Any organizations seeking assistance through Operation Round Up® program will need to first fill out an application that is then reviewed by the Board. They will decide how the money is disbursed on a need basis and you can be certain that 100% of your donations are being used to help better our communities. However, funds cannot be used for political purposes or to pay electric bills.
WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY BILL TO BE “ROUNDED UP”?
CVEC's Operation Round Up program began in January 2020. New cooperative members who choose to participate in this program can expect to see their bill “rounded up” and make their first contribution to Chariton Valley Electric’s Operation Round Up® Foundation with their first billing cycle.
